Symptoms

When clicking a drill icon in Discoverer Viewer 10g (10.1.2) using the Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 7 browser, you encounter a javascript error similar to:

Error: Object does not support this property or method. 
Code : 0 

Cause

The cause of this problem has been identified in Bug 5673463.

The error is caused by a javascript interoperability conflict with the Internet Explorer 7 browser which is not currently certified with Discoverer 10.1.2 at the time of this document posting.

Solution

Internet Explorer 7 is now certified for 10.1.2.0.2/10.1.2.2 with the appropriate patch.

This issue is corrected in Application Server patchset 2 (10.1.2.2) + Discoverer cumulative patch 3 or greater. We recommend you apply the latest

To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:

1. Apply the latest patchset + Discoverer cumulative patch as detailed in Note 237607.1 'ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Versions'
   
   
    

If you are on the 10.1.2.0.2 plus E-Business Suite 11i integration patch (Discoverer version 10.1.2.50.05),  you are urged to apply the above patches since they have been fully certified by Oracle Applications and Discoverer Development and contain the IE bug fix.

 

When opening an SR to obtain a patch password, please create the  SR via http://metalink.oracle.com, and select the Discoverer product and the Discoverer Patch Problem Clarification template. Ensure that the opatch lsinventory results from your server are uploaded to the SR so that Oracle Support can confirm the patch is appropriate for your environment.
